9/11

There's a lot of stuff going on, and I just thought I might acknowledge it. If you have the CNN special or can watch it anywhere, I would highly suggest it, and that's for getting a feel for what it was like that day.

Discovery Channel's website has a series on what they're doing now at Ground Zero: The Memorial and The  New Gateway and the Wedge of Light and Tower One and all that good stuff.

It makes me proud to be American when I see all of it. It really does. And yeah, you'll often hear me say I wish I was British, but..yeah, my country has it's perks, despite the fact that we still make pennies.

Doctor Who

I an officially addicted. YEP. I am. And if you don't get the reference, ^^^ is from Aslyum of the Daleks which is just O_o and AAHH and FYI: Dinosaurs on a Spaceship is FANGIRL CENTRAL. So yeah. Beware the fangirl.

PS Don't Blink

Petnames?

I don't really have much of a following on this. I know that cuz I've had this blog since July and it only has, like, 107 views.

But like, do I have anyone who reads what I have consistently? Like at all? and if you do, would you mind commenting on this post? You can comment as a anon user if you want. I don't need to know your name. Just if you're there.

And also, should I refer to you guys as something? Or just keep "you guys"? Because I don't want to assume you're all girls, or all guys, and yeah. And if you think I should give a nickname, what should it be?
OH! If you like what you read, please tell your friends. It would make me happy :D

K Thx Bai <3

PS Vlogging. Should I?

The Towns Were Paper (aka Why You Should Read Paper Towns)

So I just finished a most wonderful book by the most nerdfightastic John Green. It's called Paper Towns. It's about a boy named Quentin aka Q, though maybe it's about a girl named Margo. Either way, Q and Margo were best friends until they were 9, and the two of them found a dead body in the park. Their paths separated when 9 year old Margo walked towards the body and Q walked away. Now, in their Senior year, a month before graduation, Margo comes back into Q's life via window ninja roll, and then disappears the next day. This leads to the most glorious adventures of all adventures, and it's amazing. Like, super amazing. If you haven't read this book, I suggest you read it.

Of course since it's a YA novel, Q has loved Margo for forever, but that's not that important to the plot. Well, it kind of is, but it isn't. At the same time. Does that make sense? Probably not. Hmm....

New computer

Yay for me! I have a new computer!! I got it for school, but it's really nice. Usually, our school gives the sophomores, juniors, and seniors their own computer to use for school, and then at the end of their senior year they return it to the school. This year though, they're doing something different.

This year, everyone in my grade is getting Lenovo ThinkPads, which is what I'm using now. It's really nice, and I lurve it. I'm still getting used to it, and I haven't discovered all it's secrets yet, but yeah. I'm excited. They also are allowing students to bring their own device, or rent or buy the ThinkPads from the school. I'm buying the ThinkPad, because then I can keep it after high school and it's really nice and ahh! Happy times.
I'm actually a tad surprised that my school district got these computers, simply because they are so nice. But I am not one to complain. So yep. Yay computers!

Back!!

Hello lovelies! Sorry for the absence, I've been a bit busy. What have I been doing? you may ask. Well, I was at Band Camp.

*pauses for "One day, at band camp..." jokes*

Ok, done? Good. Yes, I am a band geek. And proud of it, I might add. I would try to describe it, but that's almost impossible. It's filled with "you just had to be there" jokes. Though one some of you might get is the Yes Dance. It was quite popular this year.

So yeah. I'm back now, but I must warn you, school starts in a week, so I maaay disappear every now and then. High school workloads can be a bit life consuming, especially added with marching band and hopefully musical/play practices. I'm not sure on the last two though, so no promises. But still, I won't be writing as much, most likely.

HAPPY ESTHER DAY!

I love you all.

So, this is a day late, and I apologize, I was a taaad busy yesterday.

For any of you who don't know, Esther Day is Esther Grace Earl's Birthday. If you don't know who that is, go here to find out.

When asked by John Green what she wanted him to do on her birthday, which he had declared Esther Day, she said she wanted him to say "I love you" to someone who he loves, but has trouble telling it to. He chose his brother, Hank.

When Esther died, Esther Day became a day to tell people you love them, who you normally have trouble telling that to - siblings, not-so-close family members, platonic friends, etc. Sure, you can tell spouses, girlfriends and boyfriends, but that's more Valentines Day. You can YouTube Esther Day for more thorough explanations, because that's just the basic gist.

I'm sorry this was late, but I just wanted to spread the word.

Sherlock

"Stop talking, you're lowering the IQ of the whole street."
"Look at you lot, you're all so vacant! Is that what it's like to not be me, it must be so relaxing!"
"Dear God, what's it like in your funny little brains, it must be so boring?"
"Shut up! You're thinking, it's annoying."

In case you don't know, these are all quotes from Sherlock Holmes in BBC's Sherlock. It's a wonderful, wonderful, addicting television show, starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Doctor John Watson.

It's all set in the 21st century, so there's of course differences between it and the Sherlock Holme's movies, which are all set in the Victorian era, but they remain fairly cannon to the books. If you have any interest in anything Sherlockian, you most definitely want to check it out.

If you don't get BBC (like me), you can try your local Barne's & Noble for season DVDs. Season one and two are available, but Season three has yet to be realeased on television, let alone DVD.

It's my current obsession, so you may hear a bit more about it. I'll try to avoid fangirling, but you may want to check these out: Dr. John Watson's blog and Sherlock's Website. They're really really neat. Oh, and if you live outside of the UK, to view the videos on Watson's blog go to youtube and look up The Blog of Doctor John Watson. There will be three video's that come up first, those are the ones you want :)

Imagination

Go ahead, Spongebob it. "Imaginaaaaaation." It's a gorgeous and wonderful thing and it needs to be encouraged more. Especially in small children.

This starts with a babysitting story for me. The one little girl has the greatest imagination I've ever seen. I mean, this child is nine, and she took the woods by her house, added some benches, a fire pit, cleared out some walkways, and made what she and her brothers call "The Village." It's amazing! Each of their friends has a "house" which is a smaller clearing outlined by trees/sticks/planks of wood, there's a park, and a "community center" which consists of a fire pit and some benches. It's amazing!

Then we see kids that can look at a squiggle in a tree and say "it's a rocketship!" It just makes me smile. Then it makes me wonder: Will these kids have the same sense of imagination when they're 16? I know I don't. It makes me sad, actually. So my solution is to write more.
Yes, I write. You can find me here on figment.com. Check out some of my stuff because a) it will make me happy ;) and b) Some people seem to think that it's pretty good. And if you're an aspiring writer, you might want to join the site. It's pretty fly.

Where am I going with this? Argh, I should probably draft these things first...or maybe vlog...idk. Thoughts? Comments are appreciated. :)

My Purple Chair is Broken :(

It was jumped on. Now there's two holes, then the edge is torn and fluff is falling out. So sad! :'( So, until it's sewn and fixed, it'll be stories from the leather couch. It will be fixed though, and then all will be right in the world!

Sweet 16

Recently, on July 20th, I turned sixteen. I had the traditional party, saw the new Batman, etc, but that's not what this post is about. A question has been haunting me lately: What makes Sixteen so special? There's nothing legally special, except for Driving. I think that driving is probably the biggest part of turning sixteen. To me, driving is freedom, in a way. Once I get my license, I can (legally) go pretty much anywhere I want. Given, I can't go with anyone I want until I get a Sr. License, but that's 18. But with freedom comes responsibility (no pun intended).

Ah, responsibility. Some people look forward to having more. I'm not so sure that I do. I'm nervous to have more things that I must be responsible for. The thought kind of scares me, to be quite honest. When you have the freedom to drive, there are so many things that could go wrong where you would have no one to blame but yourself. I don't know about you, but I have issues forgiving myself for anything. Other people? Most of the time, they don't even have to apologize to me. But me, myself, and I can have self-forgiving issues.

So I'm nervous. But I think I can handle. To quote Mr. John Green, "Emotions demand to be felt." I'll make it through the nervousness behind the wheel, or any other responsibilities my parents may give me. And I'll enjoy my new freedoms!

I'm not entirely sure the point of this post. Just my thoughts, I guess. Same as the others, I suppose. :)

Hufflepuff and Proud

Lately, I've been hearing a lot of crap about Hufflepuff.

I mean, honestly. I understand that maybe the House itself wasn't that important to the story-line. I get that. And I get that the other houses get "noble" qualities, like Gryffindors are Brave, Ravenclaws are Smart, and Slytherins are Ambitious. People argue that Kindness isn't a noble quality, and that we're useless, and we're pushovers.

First off, although kindness isn't seen as great of a quality as bravery, intelligence, and ambition, it's still an important quality! Chances are, if one member of each House were stranded on a desert island together, while the others argued over what to do, the Hufflepuff would be working. The Gryffindor might help, but the Puff would be doing the most work. (By the way, I'm not trying to offend anyone, I'm just stating my opinions.)

Hufflepuffs aren't useless, either! Just because we value kindness over anything else, doesn't mean we aren't brave, or smart, or ambitious! Take Hermione Granger, for example. She was in Gryffindor, but she was the smartest witch in her grade, smarter than any Ravenclaw. Her bravery just outweighed it. It's the same with the many of the Hufflepuffs I know. Like me. I'm really smart. I was actually expecting to be in Ravenclaw.
I'll admit, I was disappointed at first. I mean, I think very few people actually want to be in Hufflepuff. But now that I'm actually in the House, I actually like it! We're a really nice group of people, and we make really good friends. You just have to give us a chance.

Don't believe me? Watch the video below, made by the girls at Not Literally.

Crazy Me Starts A Blog

So the other day, I was describing my vacation to my friend, and jokingly said, "Haha I should start a blog." With the next few bits of our conversation, the joke became more of a serious thing.

It took me a while to convince myself to do this. I mean, open my private life to to whole interweb?! That's a big thing, for me anyway. And yeah, I get that I'm not gonna every single detail, only the bare surface and somewhat exciting things, but still. No offense, but pretty much all of you are complete strangers!

Also, I really have no idea what I'm doing. Really. None at all. I've never done a blog thing in my life! So basically, it's going to be like a little journal of my thoughts on things, and exciting/interesting things that happen in my life. So yeah. I hope this isn't a complete fail.

And if it is? I'll have some fun anyway :)
